INTRODUCTION

On 20 April 2002, the Post Office of Moldova (Poșta Moldovei) issued a series of postage stamps with the title Art - Paintings. The issue comprises four stamps, with associated cancellation (postmark) and first day cover (FDC). The designer was Oleg Cojocaru. The printing was performed by Bundesdruckerei, Germany.

Igor Vieru (December 23, 1923 – May 24, 1988) was a painter from Moldova. The artist's home, in Cernoleuca has become a museum, where visitors can get acquainted with Igor Vieru's art.
